For this Photo essay I was supposed to photograph a part of my day. the series of photos BELOW are from my brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ) (Hyperlinked is a BRIEF history of BJJ) training. BJJ is a close contact martial art/combat sport. Bjj teaches me self defence, helps me relieve any anger or stress from my day, and overall gives me a great workout. I was INTRODUCED to BJJ about a year ago by a friend of mine, I INITIALLY started training bjj so I can have an activity to do with him, but now I TRAIN it for fitness and to become better. As a WRESTLER I was able to adjust quickly but i'm still gradually learning and IMPROVING. Currently I am a 1 stripe white belt. Bjj at the moment is not a POPULAR sport in Egypt, but is SLOWLY being RECOGNISED and gradually gaining popularity. If interested in training BJJ contact Hussein Shaker (me) +20100122234 Email: [email protected] or Coach Mostafa El Shall +201066653670. Our team's FACEBOOK page is called Be the best for fitness and MARTIAL arts (BTB FITNESS). Training takes place in Fight Zone the Fifth SETTLEMENT, new Cairo (Mon,Wed,sat) or in Bakkar Dojo HELIOPOLIS near Shams Club (sun,TUe,Thu). there are also BJJ places in Dokki, Nasr city, 6 October, and Alexandria. These photos were taken in Fight Zone November 16,2015.

Photo-essay Journal
The photo essay assignment was interesting because this is one of the first times that I took a part of my life pictured it, captioned, and had to explain each photo. In total I took about 50 photos, so I had a good bunch to pick from for this assignment. The easiest part was taking the pictures because I was using my iPhone. Getting permission from my teammates and coach was very simple and they were happy to let me take pictures. The most challenging part however was trying to take decent or still pictures because in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) we are constantly moving so still pictures were rare if not impossible. Also to take the pictures I had to stop training and take pictures which annoyed my coach a little. The photo essay relates to my major since I am Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC). The photo essay definitely relates because it’s similar to going to an event I am trying to market or promote. At the event I would take good pictures explain each one, so it’s clear to the customers what service they are buying or the event they are going to attend.
